Born in London to American parents, Paul Ritter is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in Paris. He has worked as a Creative Director, Art Director and designer as well as an acclaimed music video and commercial director in Paris, London, Rome, Hong Kong and New York.
In the beginning of his career, Ritter was the Art Director for one of the most influential magazine launches ever, Benetton’s Colors, under the editorial direction of Tibor Kalman. He then went on to be Creative Director of Virgin Records France, Life Magazine and the award-winning Vitals magazine.
He was named Creative Director of Glamour at Condé Nast in November 2013 and remained through January 2018. In 2014 Glamour won an ASME Award for general excellence, and in 2016 Ritter was inducted into MIN’s Editorial & Design Awards Hall of Fame.
Prior to joining Glamour, Ritter had been Design Director of ELLE since April 2007. During his appointment, ELLE enjoyed its most successful years ever, both in advertising pages and circulation. In 2010 he conceived and launched the ELLE iPad app, the first fashion magazine app on tablet.
In 2019 Ritter was named Global Design Director of Tatler Asia, creating a full rebrand across 8 editions in Asia, working from New York and Hong Kong.
Ritter has worked on advertising and branding for the Estée Lauder Group, Laird + Partners, Guerlain, L’Oréal, Zara, as well as tech start-ups such as TMRW, Conceivable, The CXN, and in 2024 helped Hailee Steinfeld launch Beau Society.
